Happy birthday, Robert Danny Jr =D
What the hell, they started with Danny Gokey because he's the oldest contestant?! Eh magka-age lang kami ah! Shucks, it's one of those darn-I'm-old-na moments >_<
Anyways, so yeah, happy birthday to Danny Gokey, who turns 29 on the 24th. And, yeah, happy birthday to my biggest celebrity crush, Robert Downey, Jr., who turned 44 last 4-4 (uy astig, hehe).
So yun, haven't been blogging about AI because I haven't had the time. I do get to watch the performance shows, but I rarely catch the results show anymore.
This is quite a confusing season for me. Most of the folks I like are the folks that get a lot of hate from the netizens, or the other way around.
Granted, Danny Gokey is probably overrated, but I love him anyway. I like the gruff in his voice, and the RDJ in his looks. So sue me.
I like Kris Allen, too. And I'm glad he doesn't have any haters (at least not as bad as those that hate Danny). Though I don't know the song he just sang tonight. Simon called the performance indulgent...how many times has he used that adjective this season?
So now it's Lil performing, but I'll just blog on anyway without waiting for their performances...
As much as Allison Iraheta is exactly the contestant I'd be rooting for - rocker chick type - I can't seem to appreciate her, and I have no idea why. Kulang ang dating niya para sa akin.
EDIT: Wow, hers was my favorite performance for the night. I may be biased toward the song choice, but the way she sang it was indeed awesome.
I like Megan Joy's tone, but it only suits certain songs. Too bad for her. I wasn't able to watch when she started talking back to the judges. Again, too bad for her. I did see though when she REALLY got fried by the judges after her last performance. Ouch.
Speaking about those who left, I also liked Michael Sarver and Alexis Grace.
I'm disappointed with Anoop Desai and Lil Rounds. They were really good during the auditions, but their performances always fall short.
As for Scott MacIntyre, it's nice that he gets to perform like this despite his handicap, but I think he has overstayed in the competition at this point.
EDIT: Kamusta naman yun, Scott singing, "Now I look into your eyes, I can see forever." Hehehe. Hey cool, he plays guitar. He seems better at the piano though.
Hmmm, who else. Matt Giraud. I dunno what to make of this guy. Doesn't appeal to me.
And there - Adam Lambert. This guy polarizes the show. You either love him or hate him. Sorry folks, but I am of the latter. Maybe he's just not my type *shrugs*
EDIT: His Mad World was a cover, a version that I never liked (though my sis used to play it all the time in the car). I smell another "Billie Jean" moment here (remember how they shot down David Cook last year?) Will someone tell me why I really can't seem to like Adam Lambert...? Puro rave kasi ang tao sa Peyups.com at sa AI YahooGroups na kasali ako, as well as on Rickey.org. Hmmm...And Simon gave him a standing ovation? That's HUGE isn't it? But...why? *kamot ulo* Funny comment on Rickey.org: "Simon stood up because he was ready to leave!" :))

Other birthday greetings for April 4:
Haberdey Justin & Jericca of the Bio Unit! Funny kwento about these two. When we were at a videoke place to celebrate their birthdays, as well as Lhen's birthday and Nino's departure (i-celebrate daw yun, hehe), the number for the 'Happy Happy Birthday' song was 4485, which is Justin and Jericca's birthday - April 4, 1985. La lang :)
Also, birthday shoutout to the one and only Heath Ledger. He would've been 30 this year...

AI8 early fave: Danny Gokey - RDJ on AI
Watch Danny Gokey's audition c/o Rickey.org
Danny's on MySpace, by the way. When I first found him there, he had around 800 friends. Now his friends list has 2,000+ people! This guy's a winner!

More Downey love!
Came across an awesome article on Robert Downey Jr, which only served to make me love him more, and I thought that wasn't possible.
Excerpts:
On first love Sarah Jessica Parker
Within a year of hitting New York, Downey began getting work as an actor. In 1984, he joined Sarah Jessica Parker in the cast of the film Firstborn. They were 19 and fell in love.
"We quickly moved in together and played house," he recalls. "It was idyllic." He and Parker settled in Los Angeles, and Downey's movie career took off after his astonishing performance in 1987's Less Than Zero. It established him, at 22, as among the finest actors of his generation.
Downey fast developed a reputation as a party boy. It didn't stop him from getting major films, but his self-indulgence subverted his relationship with Parker.
"I was so selfish," he admits. "I liked to drink, and I had a drug problem, and that didn't jibe with Sarah Jessica, because it is the furthest thing from what she is. She provided me a home and understanding. She tried to help me. She was so miffed when I didn't get my act together.
"I was making money," he continues. "I was mercurial and recklessly undisciplined and, for the most part, I was happily anesthetized. Sarah Jessica would pull me out of a hangover, and we'd go pick out furniture together." He shakes his head at the memory. "She is a force of nature!"
He and Parker stayed together for seven years. She broke up with him in 1991. "I had very much this post-adolescent, faux nihilistic, punk-rock rebellious attitude," he says. "I thought my way was so much cooler than people who were actually building lives and careers.
"I was in love with Sarah Jessica," he quietly confesses, "and love clearly was not enough. I was meant to move on. And, after some heartache, she was meant to find her home with a great star." Describing Parker's husband, actor Matthew Broderick, Downey adds, "He is a lot more gifted and grounded than I ever was. They have a great kid."
On second love and ex-wife, Deborah FalconerShortly after his breakup with Parker, Downey married model Deborah Falconer, and their son, Indio, was born. "Our marriage and having a child probably kept me from going off the rails completely," he says, "but it wasn't enough to right the ship."
On his third love, Mrs. Downey
Meeting his third great love, producer Susan Levin, also helped his recovery. "Things started to change when I met my life partner, Mrs. Downey," he says, using Susan's married title as a sweet salute. She told me, 'I'm not doing that [drug] dance with you. I'm drawing a line in the sand here.' She was absolutely clear about it. That doesn't mean that other women, business associates, movie directors, insurance companies, judges and law enforcement hadn't been clear about it too. It was that, before I met Mrs. Downey, I just didn't give a goddamn. What changed is that I cared." Read the rest of the article HERE.

I think I blogged about this before, but I'll mention it again. Indio Downey, Robert's son with Deborah Falconer, is another looker, and he's the guitarist in an awesome band with kids his age (early teens!); they're called the Jack Bambis. Do check them out.

Robert Downey Jr. in Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People
Robert Downey Jr. was sent down to Earth to help us all realize (through his work) that the human experience is a sad, funny, beautiful thing, full of imperfection and irony." (Read more)
Stiller, Downey, and Jack Black star in the movie Tropic Thunder, listed on IMDb with the plot: Through a series of freak occurrences, a group of actors shooting a big-budget war movie are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying. The three actors recently appeared as the "Pips" of Gladys Knight in the Finale of Season 7 of American Idol. Ben and Jack were fun and goofy, but RDJ was the sexiest Pip of all
I will forever love that man, not only for his good looks, but for his unparalleled acting. And it's awful sweet that his drug-riddled life turned for the better now that he's found and married the love of his life. If only all substance-abusers could recover as well as RDJ.
Here's one of my most favorite scenes from my most favorite RDJ movie, Heart and Souls. A description of the scene, for those who haven't seen the film: "Penny takes possesion of Thomas' body to get them pass the securityguard and onto the stage so Harrison can give his one and only performance."
