What is The Doppler Effect?

Ayon sa Encyclopedia Britannica Online:

Doppler Effect - Apparent difference between the frequency at which waves—including light, sound, and radio waves—leave a source and that at which they reach an observer.

The effect, first described by the Austrian physicist Christian Doppler (1803–1853), is caused by the relative motion of the observer and the wave source. It can be observed by listening to the blowing horn or siren of an approaching vehicle, whose pitch rises as the vehicle approaches the observer and falls as it recedes. It is used in radar and to calculate the speed of stars by observing the change in frequency of their light.

Ayon sa Samahan ng mga Manunugtog ng Pisay (SaMaPi):

Doppler Effect - This is what takes place when 15 kick-@ss bands throw one helluva party at the Open Field of Philippine Science High School along Agham Road in Diliman, QC.

An event that should not have been missed, this occurrence is apparently the first of its kind in the history of SaMaPi and maybe even of Pisay itself.

The following photograph attests to the occurrence of such a groundbreaking event. This, however, is a mere echo of what actually occurred last 12 March 2005. If you didn't experience the Doppler Effect in the flesh, well, then this would have to do.

* Hahaha, didn't get to take much pics actually, as I was pretty toxic during the first half of the show, going around to check if everything and everyone was doing fine :P
