Please lang 'wag kang magulat

Di man ako nakapuntang Party Monsters on the Loose ng NU sa EK, I did get to watch Sugarfree at their free gig at the Alabang Town Center. Tintin, a family friend and the events organizer (I think) at ATC, mentioned this event to me a few weeks back, so pinaalam ko na sa kanya na pipicture ako nung gig hehe. Also got to meet Monch, Sugarfree's manager, nung binanggit sa kanya ni Ebe na I'd be taking pics of the performance. Monch allowed me naman to go onstage; nahiya nga lang ako umakyat so I didn't go onstage 'til the last few songs =P Thanks Tintin and Monch!

I enjoyed the set very much, 'cause I don't remember watching a full-hour Sugarfree set. They played songs from both albums - even Telepono was played, special request kasi ni Tintin, at dinedicate pa sa kanya =)
(Right-click and "Save Target As" to view a vidclip of Telepono - 2.10mb, 47sec)

Some stuff I remember them playing (not in order though, and prolly not complete): Sinta (sigurado ako una 'to), Prom, Telepono, Burnout, Mariposa (which Ebe dedicated to his girl, who was also there), Taguan (I love!), Tao, Tikman (their Eheads cover na kasama sa upcoming Eheads tribute album - sabi ni Ebe sa Nov na 'to!), Kwarto, Tulog Na, Hari ng Sablay (which ended the show quite memorably).
(Right-click and "Save Target As" to view a vidclip of Tikman - 3.11mb, 1min10sec)

Some of my favorite Ebe moments:

Ebe shouting at the monitor (Hoooy!!!) 'cause it was making an annoying buzzing sound, as the sound techs were trying to fix it.
*
*
Ebe jumping in front of me singing "Please lang 'wag kang magulat" while I was onstage taking a pic of Mitch.
*
Kwarto lyrics:
*
Mitch and Ebe moment ito:
Mitch's drumstick flies away from his hands in the middle of a drumroll (er, ano ba tawag sa "riff" pag sa drums?). Ebe laughs so loudly at him, as in tipong pang-asar talaga, in mid-song, hehehe.
*
Ebe going down to sing amongst the crowd during Kwarto (their friend Bodjie was onstage doing Ebe's guitar duties).

The best Ebe moment, though, was when he was singing Hari ng Sablay.

The guy actually climbed the scaffolding beside the stage and sang a good half of the song from there! There was even a point when he was PARALLEL to the ground. Haaay, hehehe. Sablay nga naman =P I tried to take a decent pic pero di nako nakalapit 'cause I was on the other side of the stage, and I was too shocked at what Ebe was doing to have a bit more presence of mind =D

Here are some of my fave shots of the night.

The rest of the pics are here. Paumanhin nalang sa fans ni Mitch, I failed to get more shots of him. My bad :D

Singit ko narin:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY sa kuya ni Ebe - Manong Vin Dancel! Yey!

Batch 2008 goes to Subic

Fun (but tiring!) way to start the long break: Batch 2008's outbound educational trip this year was in Subic, facilitated by Lakbay Kalikasan and SBMA.

Bus One (Adelfa + Camia) folks

At JEST Camp, watching a demo on survival training. Was pleasantly surprised to see that the Lakbay Kalikasan facilitator from Bus Two (Champaca + Dahlia) was Eyds (crouching guy in gray shirt, right side) a orgmate of mine from the UP Zoological Society.

Here's a vidclip on starting fire using bamboo and nothing else: Right click here and "Save Target As". (3.97mb, 1min31sec)

One of the interesting sights at JEST camp: biology in action, c/o two butterflies, hehe.

Before this pic, this bird was busy eating some bread. Eh nahulog nung nagpic kami. After nun, ayaw na raw magpakuha ng pic yung ibon, hehehe. Btw, that's my yellow (d-uh) Twisted Halo shirt. Cool noh? (Plugging) :P

The faculty fooling around on the mangrove beach while the kids were having fun in the water

Mardan (Pisay 2000), Dacs (Pisay '98), and Ame (Pisay '96) were in Subic just 5 months ago, thanks to Mrs. Jet Chan and her daughter Kat. They sponsored Ilang-Ilang '07's (my advisory's) summer class outing. Mardan, Ame, and I were the lucky teachers who went with the kids.

Menggai (Ma'am Cheng to us '98 folks!), Nino, and Dacs - the Bio 1 teachers (minus Ma'am Docto - she has 3rd year classes so she couldn't go).

Ebe's homecoming

Was able to catch Ebe's MTV Homecoming episode, grabe, natuwa ako sobra. Ebe's Batch93 sa UP Rural High sa Los Banos (thus his heartfelt Los Banos song from the first album). I have this thing pa naman for high school. Kita mo nga't I'm back in my own alma mater eh ;)

For those who wanna see that MTV Homecoming ep of Ebe, it will be aired again on Saturday, Oct28, 6pm :)

- - - - -

Speaking of homecoming, I've long wanted to stage an alumni bandfest sa Pisay :P I'm thinking pwede siguro sa Homecoming 2006...we'll invite Pisay alumni who have bands to come play in Pisay for the current students and for alumni and non-Pisay folk as well. Para naman makita ng lahat ang pride of Pisay, pride of Samapi :D

Haaay, miss ko pa rin si Asti. Came home today from work, plopped on the sofa, and wholeheartedly wished I could still see Asti climb up on the couch for her "Welcome Home" pet.

She's out back counting stars

This is a song that, for some reason I don't know, brings back memories of my first poodle, Koko, who left for doggie heaven sometime 1995 I think.

Now, it's my Asti's song as well.

- - - - -

STARS - Hum

she thinks she missed the train to mars
she's out back counting stars

she's not at work, she's not at school
she's not in bed, i think i finally broke her
i bring her home everything i want
nothing that she needs
i thought she'd be there holding daisies
she always waits for me

she thinks she missed the train to mars
she's out back counting stars

i found her out back sitting naked
looking up and looking dead
a crumpled yellow piece of paper
seven nines and tens

i thought she'd be there holding daisies
she always waits for me

- - - - -

Wala nang lalapit sa 'kin para magpa-pet when she senses that I'm sad.

Sorry, I just miss her so much. The house feels so lonely without the pitter patter of little brown feet; so empty without the sight of a brown furball snoozing at the foot of my bed.

Shucks =(

Haaay.

My baby's back at the vet.

Asti's been bleeding for the past 4 days, and we thought it was just her period. After some time, na-bother na kami kasi ang lakas nung bleeding niya.

Yun pala, she wasn't menstruating...she was bleeding because of bladder stones :( So ayun, she had to undergo emergency surgery this evening. Buti nalang it went well. They also had to remove her uterus kasi may infection narin.

Gonna visit her tomorrow. Can't have her home yet kasi imomonitor muna siya sa vet. At least ok na siya. Miss her though, super sanay kasi akong kasama siya sa kwarto matulog :(

Ang pamilyang Admit One

Had another fun Admit One family gig at Conspiracy last Friday evening.

Just like the year before, Admit One bands (Sugarfree, Cambio, Twisted Halo, and Fatal Posporos) had an early evening acoustic gig for Kris Dancel's mom, Dr. Elynn Gorra (one cool mom!).

And, just like last year, nawili na naman ako sa rockstar kids :P Pero this time, it was just Kaio Dancel (son of Vin and Kris) and Veda Zabala (daughter of Buddy and Earnest); sayang wala si Atari Marasigan (daughter of Raimund and Myrene).

- - - - -

Was able to shoot a few vidclips from that evening.
(Right-click on links and "Save Target As...")

Sugarfree - Tikman
Sugarfree's contribution to the upcoming Eheads tribute album. This was the only time I've heard this song live. Ang gandaaa.

Fatal Posporos - Pagasa
My favorite track off Paper View. This time, Kaio shares stage time with his mommy, with matching strumming pa talaga ;) Looks like this kid'll really follow his parents' footsteps :P

Fatal Posporos - Galileo
I think this was a special request of Kris's mom.

- - - - -

Quote of the evening:

Ebe: Happy birthday Tita Elynn (Kris's mom)! Sana po pag nagka-mother-in-law ako kasing-bait ninyo (or tulad niyo, or basta, something like that =D).

Kris: O, ba't di mo sinabi kaagad? (hehe)

Ebe: Hmmm, it's never too late... (sabay hirit ng) Sick joke, sick joke...

- - - - -

Got some snapshots from that gig too:

And my favorite shot of the lot. Awwwwwwwwww.

Oh yeah, and I finally got my Twisted Halo shirts - PINK and YELLOW! Hehehe. Di ko naman talaga balak kumuha ng yellow, but since I need a yellow shirt (aside from the oversized batch shirt) for the field trip ng second years, ayun.

Also, I finally have Cynthia Alexander's Comet's Tail.
