Natagpuan ko na ang tunay kong ligaya

If I should die this very moment
I wouldn't fear
For I've never known completeness
Like being here
Wrapped in the warmth of you
Loving every breath of you
Still my heart this moment
Or it might burst

Could we stay right here
Until the end of time
'Til the earth stops turning
Wanna love you until the seas run dry
I've found the one I've waited for

All this time I've loved you
And never known your face
All this time I've missed you
And searched this human race
Here is true peace
Here my heart knows calm
Safe in your soul
Bathed in your sighs

Wanna stay right here
Until the end of time
'Til the earth stops turning
Gonna love you until the seas run dry
I've found the one I've waited for
The one I've waited for

All I've known
All I've done
All I've felt was leading to this
All I've known
All I've done
All I've felt was leading to this

Hello my friend, we meet again

Woh...sorta freakish, sorta senti sequence of events.

Was checking out my Multiply account.
Decided to visit an online buddy's list of Contacts.

In another window, I logged-in to Friendster and arrived at my homepage.
Was surprised to see that WolfmannFULL had new testimonials.
Checked out WolfmannFULL's page.

In the silence of the room, I kinda heard a song starting.
Turned up the volume.
It was "My Sacrifice" by Creed.
(Ok, I know there are a lot of Creed-haters, but just let me finish my story ayt.)

Since there was nothing else going on in the room, I heard the lyrics word for word.
And, since I was browsing Wolf's page, natigilan ako nang marinig ko ano yung lyrics nung kanta (see below).

I initially thought the music was coming from Wolf's page. What with the new features of Friendster, malay ko bang pwede nang lagyan ng music yung Profile page mo diba.

Turns out, it was coming from the other window, were I was browsing the list of contacts of an Online Buddy sa Multiply. One of his contacts had the Creed video as part of his profile, so yun yung narinig ko through the speakers.

Sheesh.

But then, the coincidence was kinda freaky. And senti narin. Na-miss ko lalo si Wolf.

It's been over a month now, and I still find myself thinking of Wolf quite often, considering na di naman kami friends as in friends (just a bit more than acquaintances, actually). Pero, from what has happened, I find that Wolf has inspired me to live life to the fullest, 'cause that's how he lived his life.

Anyways, eto yung lyrics nung "My Sacrifice". Read it to see kung ba't ako natigilan when I heard that while browsing Wolf's page.

"My Sacrifice"

Hello my friend, we meet again
It's been awhile, where should we begin?
Feels like forever
Within my heart are memories
Of perfect love that you gave to me
Oh, I remember

When you are with me, I'm free
I'm careless, I believe
Above all the others we'll fly
This brings tears to my eyes
My sacrifice

We've seen our share of ups and downs
OH HOW QUICKLY LIFE CAN TURN AROUND
IN AN INSTANT

It feels so good to reunite
Within yourself and within your mind
Let's find peace there

When you are with me, I'm free
I'm careless, I believe
Above all the others we'll fly
This brings tears to my eyes
My sacrifice

I just want to say hello again
I just want to say hello again

When you are with me I'm free
I'm careless, I believe
Above all the others we'll fly
This brings tears to my eyes
Cause when you are with me I am free
I'm careless, I believe
Above all the others we'll fly
This brings tears to my eyes
My sacrifice, My sacrifice

I just want to say hello again
I JUST WANT TO SAY HELLO AGAIN

My sacrifice.

Singit lang. A funny hirit from my Andrew as he lamented the contest piece he had to sing sa isang duets contest nila sa Xavier School: "Hindi pa ko rockstar, sellout nako :( "

Di bale, Drew and his partner tied for 2nd place naman, hehehe.

More stuff to check out: Dicta License's Paghilom / Rockstar CD

Dicta License - Paghilom

Omg, this album is FINALLY out! Pero di pa ko nakakabili! This is definitely a must-check-out CD. In my opinion, the carrier single, "Ang Ating Araw", is currently the most beautiful Filipino song (as in written in the Filipino language) on the airwaves.

Walang pamagat alay kong alamat
Di makakahon damdaming naisulat.

Di mo ba naririnig
Ang tinig ng lahat?
Sabay-sabay lumiliyab

Sisikat ng muli.

Yup, you read it right. There's an Eheads song up there. Check out the write-up for "You Make Me" (w/ streaming video, as of July 2005) at Philmusic.com! This song was part of the EP that the Heads released, entitled "Please Transpose" (I'd LOVE to have a copy of this), with Kris Dancel as frontwoman. Eheads pa talaga sila nun, hindi pa Cambio, and Diego and Ebe weren't there yet.

There's also a track there by A.D.D. ("Di Ko Na Alam"), a side-project by David Aguirre (Razorback) and Wolf Gemora (Wolfgang) when they were both still based here in the Philippines. Another A.D.D. track, "House of Lies", is now being performed by Lokomotiv in the States. Lokomotiv is Basti Artadi and Wolf Gemora (Wolfgang), David Aguirre, and Danny Gonzales (a Mexican-American), and is based in the States. They've been rockin out there for quite some time now (even fronting for PNE during their US tour, I believe); I can't wait for them to release an album (which, hopefully, would find its way to Philippine shores).

Basta check out the disc, lots of great indie acts out there. Some of them are Manila-based, may mga taga-Cebu (like Cattski - great band!), and there even are Fil-Am acts based abroad.

My first ever entry here was after my birthday week last year, and I was raving about Admit One.

A year later, I'm still talking about the same old stuff, the same gig that I love to pieces :D

Spent my birthday weekend at Saguijo with Andrew to catch Chubibo at the September Admit One gig. Finally I got to catch a Chubibo bar gig. And, after 11 years, I again felt like the Pisay freshie idolizing those Batch95 guys - Monsi, Ryan/Doc, Nico.

For those who don't know em yet, Chubibo is Monsi Simon on guitars, Doc Urbino on bass, Nico Pineda on drums, and Irene Tan on vocals.

Monsi, Doc, and Nico were seniors when I first stepped into Pisay. Kuya Nico was the president of SAMAPI, ang Samahan ng mga Manunugtog ng Pisay. I was a member of that org, and now I am its adviser :D Also, these guys bands (Monsi with Killer Kamatis, and Doc and Nico in Studfarm - tama nga ba?) were the most rocking SAMAPI folks back then. Tas nung seniors na kami sa Pisay, I vividly remember Doc on vocals AND guitars doing The Black Crowes' Hard to Handle during a SAMAPI gig sa 4th floor Audi - I've loved that song ever since.

So now, seeing them with their cute vocalist Irene (who, by the way, is from Assumption) rocking out venues left and right, I'm just so proud to have been a little sister to these guys, lalo na si Kuya Monsi na kasa-kasama pa namin sa backlobby or caf na sumagad sa 7:30 dorm curfew.

The other guest band was Join the Club. It was my first time to see them - ang galing nila! And according Manong Vin, dami raw nagsabi na Join the Club sana yung nanalo sa 2004 Muziklaban.

Speaking of Vin, he proudly told me last Saturday na dalawang buwan na siyang yosi-free. Astig :D

Twisted Halo
Twisted Halo

At siyempre, hindi mawawala dito ang pagprofess ko ng aking undying love and support for *that* band. Astig ng Twisted Halo! :D Their new drummer, Abe Billano - formerly of Cagayan de Oro's Nuncyspungen - has definitely made his mark on Halo music. Though I really miss seeing Monmon with Halo, watching Abe do his stuff last Saturday made me realize that indeed he's the man for the job.

So the rest of September's Admit One pics are here. Happy birthday ulit kina Diego Mapa (Cambio/Monsterbot/Pedicab), Kris Dancel (Cambio/Fatal Posporos), Jason Caballa (Twisted Halo/Pedicab), and Heidi (kahit di ko siya kilala, hehe) :D

Pffffft

The Gallagher brothers are the only rockstar brats I can stand.

With that said, let me just add that I am utterly disappointed sa results ng Rockstar:INXS. I've been raving about this show since I (accidentally) caught the first ep. I've been cheering for MiG for so long - in my mind, siya na nga talaga yung bagong INXS frontman.

But no, siya pa yung natanggal sa final three. And, though I acknowledge that he may not indeed be right for INXS (mas pop nga naman siya kaysa rock), I was still heartbroken kasi, siyempre, kapwa Pinoy yun making his mark on the global stage. And in the end, wala rin pala.

Anyway, if and when MiG comes out with an album, whether solo or in a band, I'll prolly grab a copy. And, no, I'm not into Jasmine Trias so kahit may album out na siya, I'm not interested hehe.

As for the result of Rockstar INXS, yun nga, disappointed ako. Would've wanted Marty to win, if not MiG.

I've mentioned this before already - JD's got talent, that's for sure. Trip ko nga yung "Pretty Vegas" eh. He's got looks (he actually reminds me of Eric Bana - though di ko trip si Eric Bana so JD doesn't charm me either). But, darn, he's got an attitude, too! And LOTS of it! He has sucked up to INXS onstage (thus sparking some ill feelings among the rest of the contestants). And he has shown his unprofessionalism (there's such a word, right?) one too many times. If I were part of the band, I wouldn't want to handle that kind of person. Sakit lang sa ulo yun. But then of course maybe it was JD's talent that they focused on and not his bratty side. So there, gaya ng sinabi sa Peyups.com, "the MB-plant won after all", and "good luck nalang sa kanila" =P

Well, at least they all got brand new Honda Civics. *Wow*

Sana Marty also continues with his career. Trip ko siya. Rocker na nice guy with the mystifying 'smoky eyes' (as Ninna put it).

I really didn't like it na JD won (sorry JD fans!). INXS just lost a fan-to-be.

Awwwwwwwwww

September 14, 2005. At home, sick.

That's the only birthday I could remember that I spent sickly. Pero masaya naman kasi tinawagan ako ng homeroom/advisory class ko to greet me :)

So anyway, back to work the next day. Little did I know, though, that September 15 would be an extra extra special day for me...

At around 12 noon, Jerome (of Ilang-Ilang '07, my advisory class last year) came into the Bio Unit and asked if I was busy. I was blindfolded and led to the backlobby where the rest of Ilang '07 was waiting to greet me Happy Birthday! They aren't classmates anymore, so I was touched that they sought out their common break to spend a few minutes with their former adviser.

But it wasn't just any greeting...it was actually a Take Two of what they did last year! Hindi kasi nila nalaman in time for Bio na birthday ko nung araw na yun, so 'bumawi' sila the next day. Hinarana nila ako ng "Huling El Bimbo" sa backlob (they knew I LOVED the Eheads), and they bought a super duper yummy Red Ribbon Chocolate Cake. Later that afternoon, matapos ang mga klase nila, we went to the caf to eat the cake. LOL!

So yun nga, yung ginawa nila this year was a Take Two, kumpleto pa rin with the harana and the cake :P Astig, tuwang-tuwa ako. I went through my classes that afternoon with a smile on my face.

- - - - -

What I didn't know was that there was another surprise waiting for me...

My current homeroom class - Camia '08 - also had a special something prepared for me. Pagkastart ng Bio period namin, kumanta sila ng Happy Birthday, at binigyan ako ng gitara! :D And when I excitedly opened the guitar case to check out their gift, I saw that all of them had scribbled a birthday greeting on the guitar. Ang sweet noh? :)

- - - - -

It feels great to know that I am appreciated, that somehow I can touch other people's lives and make a difference. My students really made my birthday extra special. At na-extend pa siya hehehe.

Sa Ilang '07 and Camia '08, a very big hug and thanks for your presents! :) :) :)

Ilang-Ilang '07 happily devouring the chocolate cake :P

The guitar Camia '08 gave me, amidst the mess on my bed :D

Pisay Alumni Basketball League 2005

I'm not into UAAP Basketball. I'm not into the PBA. I'm not into the NBA. Don't get me wrong - I like basketball. I daresay it's the best sport I can play, or used to play, hehe.

Except for the PABL. The what? The Pisay Alumni Basketball League. The 2005 tournament just kicked off last Sunday (September 18), and Batch 98 scored our first win (vs 05). Yey! Di nga lang ako nakanood. Ay, kaya siguro sila nanalo :P

For a little history of the PABL, more commonly known as Pisay Interbatch (though may iba rin kasi sports tourneys ang alumni so para fair PABL nalang daw), here's something that was posted sa Yahoogroup by Arrow '91:

- - - - -

Para lang sa info ng mga bago at oldies na rin, yung PISAY alumni basketball interbatch started way back in 1986. For the past 19 years, tuloy-tuloy ang laro except nung 1997 (big jan, ba't nga ba?).

Kaya try natin lahat i-preserve 'tong liga natin at ituloy lang ang laro in the years to come!

Below is the list of champions (as recalled namin ng utol ko of batch 85):

1986- 85 / 1996- 91
1987- 82 / 1997- wala laro
1988- 85 / 1998- 85
1989- 82 / 1999- 85
1990- 85 / 2000- 96
1991- 85 / 2001- 86/87
1992- 85 / 2002- 91
1993- 85 / 2003- 92
1994- 90 / 2004- 91
1995- 85 / 2005- ?

Legend talaga ang Batch 85 with 9 championships. Batch 91 follows with 3!!! Batch 82 with 2. Tapos tig-isa ang 86/87 merger, 90, 92 at 96. Sino kaya dis year?

- - - - -

Arrow is the main organizer for this year's tourney, along with Jan '92 and my very own Andrew '98. By tradition, though, the batch celebrating their 5th year out of Pisay is the official organizer of the PABL. This year, however, Batch 2000 wasn't able to take on the task. Back in 1997, the same thing happened with Batch 92, though they took over when it was supposed to be Batch 97's turn.

So anong nangyari sa games nung Linggo? Again, posted by Arrow sa Yahoogroup:

- - - - -

1st WEEK RESULTS

Game 1: Batch 97 - 62, Batch 94 - 36

Thomas Ingles outscored the whole batch 94 team with 37 pts highlighted by 5 3pt. bombs. Mr. Chan led batch '94 with 8 big points. '94 leader Roger Banta was held to 6pts because of very weak knees (galing honeymoon ksi).

Game 2: Batch 96 - 58, Batch 05 - 56

Batch 96 was led by the 23 pts of Pazzicuigan (tama ba?), followed by Duran's 15 pts. In spite of playing with only 5 players and without team leaders Jasper Manlapaz and Mr. Comeback-Player-of-the-Year Jonathan Aguirre, 96 was able to squeeze out the win because of a technical foul slapped on '05 in the last seconds of the game.

Pangandaman scored 29 pts for 05. Next time, please be reminded to field in 5 players at-a-time only inside the court para di kyo ma-technical.

Game 3: Batch 98 - 63, Batch 04 - 51

Batch '98 scoring machine Karlo Hombre, sporting a new look, opened the season with 38pts. Acain had 10pts. This batch, who will again have new uniforms by next week, looks really hungry for a title this year. (We almost had it last year but lost to '91 hehe - Dacs.)

They survived 04's mr. de guzman who exploded with 27 pts. in the first 3 quarters. Napagod na sa 4th and had a lone 3 pt. shot for a total of 30 pts.

Game 4: Batch 91 - 64, Batch 87/90 - 42

The defending champs opened the season with a win against the lone Merger Team of the tournament, batch 87/90. After practicing with the official tournament ball for one month, Armeña scored 27 pts punctuated by a career high 5 3-pt. bombs. MVP for Life Toss Villamil warmed up his season with 18pts in 3 quarters. Manning the center for '91 was Glenn Bernardo who had a double-double game with 11pts, 10 rebounds (ata?) plus a career high 1 out of 4 from the free throw line.

Zed, who is a bank executive, led the Merger with 18pts. Biks Serrano followed with 8 pts. Veteran Lloyd Ecarma ably handled the backcourt for the Merger.

Soundcheck

Last September 5, nagkaroon ng presentation ang Faculty and Admin folks for Pisay's Foundation Day. As in sumayaw ng "Twist" tsaka "Sumayaw, Sumunod" (among lotsa other stuff) ang mga guro at kawani ng Pisay. As for me, ASA pang kasama ako sa sayaw noh :D

Call it guts or kapalmuks, whatever. Wala kaming napagkasunduang pangalan, but anyway ang kasama ko sa 'banda' ay sina Sir Gary Coronado at Ma'am Hershey Palestroque-Regaya ng Physics Unit on vocals, and Harold/Lod Luy (Batch '94) of the Art Unit on acoustic guitar.

Setlist:
Two of Us by the Beatles - Dacs and Sir Gary with Lod
Ipagpatawad Mo by VST and Co. - Sir Gary with Lod
Guhit ng Langit by Color It Red - Ma'am Hersh with Lod
Hinahanap-hanap Kita by Rivermaya - Ma'am Hersh with Lod
Kailan by The Eraserheads - Sir Gary with Lod
Motorbykle by Cynthia Alexander - Dacs with Lod

Nyahahaha! Ang kapal ko noh?! I dared sing (er, grammar?) a Cynthia song in front of sambayanang Pisay :D Anyway, I think it went well, so no worries :P

Importante nga naman ang soundcheck. Never had the chance to rehearse nang plugged-in sa sound system. So last minute (literal), di tuloy ako nakagitara sa Hinahanap-hanap Kita at Kailan. Oks lang, carry naman ni Lod. And I must say, astig ang Motorbykle niya. And since we weren't able to soundcheck, we hardly heard ourselves in some numbers so ayun, pffft. Hehehe.

What's going on?

25 years of my life and still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this
Brotherhood of man
For whatever that means
So I cry somethimes when I'm lying in bed
To get it all out what's in my head
Then I start feeling a little peculiar
So I wake in the morning and I step
Outside I take deep breath
I get real high
Then I scream from the top of my lungs
What's goin' on
And I say hey...
And I say hey what's goin' on

And I try, oh my God do I try
I try all the time
In this institution
And I pray, oh my God do I pray
I pray every single day
For a revolution

25 years of my life and still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination

4 Non Blondes (c) 1992/1993(?)

* The biggest hit back when I was in 6th/7th grade
* Was twice part of the NU107 year-end countdown, #1 pa nga ata nung 1994 (lemme know if I remembered it incorrectly :P)
* Sung by Suzie at tonight's
Rockstar INXS Performance Show
* The official soundtrack of my 25th year here on Planet Earth.

My personal official soundtrack for the past year:

all the people I once knew
the faces I once could relate to
24 years is such a vast sea of time

all the loves I've gone through
all the things I thought I could get used to
24 YEARS YET I'M STILL JUST A CHILD

some scars we bare are deep
some pain we buy real cheap
best to look before you leap
because the seeds we sow we reap

been talking to a man
who tells me all his problems
and how he could have had it all
but didn't bother
he took things to the bank
and never did he gamble
now he's just a man
who tells people all his problems

and the times I though to change
ENDING UP STAYING JUST THE SAME
24 years and I still can't make up my mind

the ways I wish I went
after countless dead ends
24 notches on this belt of my life...

IF I COULD MAKE IT THROUGH ONE MORE DAY
THEN MAYBE ALL THIS WILL CHANGE
if I could make it though one more day
then maybe he'll go away
make through one more day...

- "24", from Wolfgang's WURM album (c) 1997

Someone better make a song about being 26, I'm gonna need that in 364 days.

Salamat sa lahat ng bumati! *hug!*

Importante nga ang soundcheck

Hehehe. Actually, I'll be blogging about ^that^ maybe tomorrow. As for now, here are some snapshots from the Opening Ceremonies of Humanities Week (Aug 31 - Sept 3) at Pisay.

Parang wala akong natatandaang field demo eh...

Field demo...brings back CSA memories though, hehehe. Winner parin yung gigantic wave namin. Astig!

First Years - KONAN

Second Years - ARNIS

Third Years - KATUTUBONG SAYAW

Here's where you can download the Pinoy Big Brother theme:

Orange and Lemons' "Pinoy Ako":
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/orangeandlemons/files/Pinoy%20Big%20Brother%20Soundtrack

You need to be a member of the Orange and Lemons Yahoogroup to access the file, though. To join the group, visit the OnL Yahoogroup homepage:

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/orangeandlemons

Just click on the "Join This Group" button somewhere on the page. If you don't have a Yahoo ID yet, I believe there'll be instructions there how to get one =)

Sali na kayo sa Yahoogroup! Best way to get updates (gig skeds, album updates, etc) on the band, and to chat with the band members themselves ;)
